Everything else follows from this. In Paired the day starts with a question. You both answer, and neither of you sees the other’s reply until you’ve both written one. It is a good mechanic: it guarantees participation, and the questions are written by relationship experts, so a couple that has run out of things to say has something to say again.

In BeSeen the day starts with a feeling. A check-in takes about thirty seconds: a mood on a five-point scale, the emotions behind it, where you feel it in your body, and, if you want, a note, a photo, or a voice memo. You then decide what your partner sees: just the mood, a summary, or everything. Their day lands on your home screen through a widget, and you can reply, leave a love note, or send a Buzz.

So the question to ask is not “which app is better” but “which unit is missing from our relationship”. If you talk plenty but never about anything, get Paired. If you talk about everything except how you are each doing, get BeSeen.

What each one costs for two people#

Both apps sell one subscription that covers both partners, which is the right way to do it. Paired lists $14.99/mo, or $39.99 to $79.99/yr depending on the offer you're shown; covers both partners. BeSeen+ is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year after a 7-day free trial. On the monthly plan BeSeen is cheaper; on the annual plan it depends on which of Paired’s concurrent offers you are shown, so check the paywall you actually see before deciding on price alone.

The free tiers are shaped differently. Paired gives you one question a day for free and locks journeys, quizzes, and games. BeSeen’s solo mood journal is free with no account at all; what you pay for is the partner layer. If you want to try the check-in habit before involving your partner, you can do that for nothing.

Privacy: what the labels say#

As of September 2026, Paired’s App Store privacy label lists data used to track you across other companies’ apps, including identifiers, purchases, and usage data. That is common in consumer apps and it is disclosed, but a couples app holds unusually intimate material, so it is worth knowing.

BeSeen keeps your journal on your device by default. Nothing leaves your phone until you connect with a partner, and then only what you choose to share, per check-in. Shared notes, feelings, activities, replies, and prompt answers are end-to-end encrypted between your two phones; mood level and timestamps are not, and we say so rather than rounding up. Android. Paired runs on both platforms; BeSeen is iPhone only today, so a mixed-phone couple has an easy decision. Paired also has expert-written journeys on topics like money and love languages, quizzes, and games, and a library built from years of questions. It is the most polished version of the question format, and it has the download numbers to prove it.

What BeSeen has that Paired does not#

A record of how you each actually felt, day by day, with trends and a weekly recap. Per-entry sharing control. A body map for physical sensations. Voice memos and photos inside the check-in. Home screen widgets that show your partner’s latest shared mood, note, or doodle. A shared drawing canvas with live presence, a relationship timeline, and long-distance touches like a next-visit countdown. Can you use both?#

Yes, and some couples do: Paired for the evening question, BeSeen for the morning check-in.
