Agapé is a question-a-day app: you both answer, the answers unlock once you have both replied, and streaks and photo replies keep you coming back. Its edge over Paired is topic packs. There are sets for long-distance couples, pregnancy, faith, and finances, so the questions can follow the season you are actually in instead of a generic rotation.

BeSeen’s daily unit is a mood check-in rather than a question. You log how you feel, the emotions behind it, and optionally a note, photo, or voice memo, then choose what your partner sees. Price and free tier#

Agapé is generous on the free side: thousands of questions free. Its paid tiers are the confusing part. As of September 2026 the App Store list shows $9.99 to $14.99/mo, or $19.99 to $99.99/yr; no lifetime plan, because the app runs several offers at once, so the price you see may not be the price your friend saw.

BeSeen is free to try. Solo mood journaling needs no account and no payment. BeSeen+ unlocks partner features for both of you at $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial, and there is one price rather than a spread.

Privacy: bank-level is not end-to-end#

Agapé’s FAQ describes “bank-level encryption”. That phrase means encryption in transit and at rest, which every serious app has; it does not mean end-to-end, and the company can read what you write. Its App Store privacy label lists no cross-app tracking, which is better than Paired’s, but it declares the widest set of data linked to your identity in this category, including contacts and sensitive info.

BeSeen keeps the journal on your device and end-to-end encrypts what you share: notes, feelings, activities, replies, and prompt answers travel between your two phones in a form we cannot read. Where Agapé wins#

Android, first. Agapé runs on both platforms and BeSeen is iPhone only. Second, the topic packs: if you are pregnant, long-distance, or working through money, a question set built for that season is genuinely useful, and BeSeen’s 140+ prompts are broader rather than themed. Third, the free question library is large enough that many couples never pay.

One caution to weigh against that: as of September 2026 the iOS app had not shipped an update in five months. That may mean nothing, or it may mean the roadmap is parked. Check the version history on its App Store page before you commit a year.

Where BeSeen wins#
